Béziers – A small chateau near the Canal du Midi as well as Béziers and the Mediterranean

image001.jpg

The house is surrounded by water on three sides. The river Orb provides us with one border and we have the Canal du Midi which has just crossed the river on an aqueduct on two sides. The raised canal protects us from the noise from the city of Béziers whose center nevertheless is only 20 minutes away on foot. Five minutes away we have a small center with bakery, pharmacy, tobacco and some other shops. The beaches such as Valras Plage and Vendres Plage are 17 minutes away by car.

The main building has four floors connected by a staircase in the tower, containing some 350 sq m.

Bottom floor: living room with large fireplace, library (etc) of 60 sq m, two bedrooms and shower/WC

Main floor: drawing room with fireplace and lovely murals, view over the river and the terrace outside, large American kitchen with dining room/drawing room

First floor: two bedrooms both with fireplace, dressing room, one bathroom with shower and WC, separate WC

Second floor: Two bedrooms, storage rooms, shower/WC.

On top in the tower there is a small room with panoramic view over the city, the cathedral and surroundings

There is also a newly constructed villa of 140 sq m with three bedrooms, drawing room, small kitchen, two shower/WC. The villa is intended for friends or a groundskeeper but may be considered separately, since it is beside the second pair of gates.

The garden is totally walled in with no view from the outside, 3 500 sq m. There is a pool 15x4 meters with a motorized roof (“abri”) for all-year use. From the future wine cellar one can look through a window into the pool. There is also a small pool for children attached to the main pool’s circulation.

The vegetation in the garden is typically Mediterranean: palm trees, cypresses, a fantastic magnolia, mimosa, cedar trees, olive, lime, coing trees and vines.

The high walls are complemented by an alarm system.
